Turkish official gazette (10.09.2018) states that any foreigner
purchasing or owning 250,000 Usd of real estate in Turkey,
is now eligible for Turkish Citizenship.

CITIZENSHIP TYPES IN TURKEY

BIRTH

Citizens born to one or both Turkish parents have the right to citizenship.
(Turkish Citizenship Law 403). If a mother and father are successful in their
applications this can also be extended to the children.


MARRIAGE

Foreigners can obtain citizenship after 3 years of marriage to a Turkish national.

apply for an alternative type of citizenship that grants almost full rights.


CITIZENSHIP BY INVESTMENT

Turkish government introduced a new system in 2018 to become a Turkish citizen. People who are eligible to apply include anyone who has bought a property worth at least 250.000 USD or deposited 500.000 USD in Turkish banks. You are not allowed to sell the property for three years. People who have invested at least 500.000 USD in fixed capital or employ 50 Turkish people are also eligible.

GETTING A TAX NUMBER

Getting a tax number is the first step to start your application. We will go to tax office with your original passport and obtain your tax number in 15 minutes.
 

OPENING A BANK ACCOUNT

Opening a Turkish bank account in your name. Original passport and photos are required.You will also need a utility bill which shows your current address in your country.

Purchasing the property which will worth minimum 250.000 USD and proof of payment by your bank. Habitation licence granted and suitable for valuation
 

CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY

The value of the property will be determined by an official valuation survey done by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.The value of the property must be at least 250.000 USD in the valuation report.

RESIDENCE PERMIT APPLICATION

You are required to have a valid resident permit before the citizenship application. You will apply to Directorate General of Migration Management.Only the investor is obliged to obtain the permit not the whole family.


 

TURKISH CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION

CRITERIA REQUIRED FOR TURKISH CITIZENSHIP PROGRAMME

  • You will be required to own a property or multiple properties, in Turkey with a value of at least 250.000 USD at the time the Sales Contract or ownership transfer is notarized at the Land Registry Office.
  • The Capital Market Board, after an official valuation survey is done and valuation report written, will authenticate the value of the property/s.
  • If there is a mortgage loan or subject to mortgage on the property/s, the amount will be noted in the valuation survey and deducted from the value.
  • The value of the property has to be paid via bank transfer from the seller’s account to the purchaser’s account. This will ensure the transaction is officially recorded with bank receipts.
  • Your application will be sent to various official bodies; Ministry of Internal Affairs, General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs Directorate of Foreigners Department, The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Land Registry Office.
  • You will be required to keep the purchased property for at least 3 years. This is annotated on the Notarized Sales Contract/title deed.
  • Please note: properties that have been transferred by the applicants spouse or children after 12.01.2017 are not within the scope of the regulation.
